Kendel Shanks is a designer and artist from a small town 20 minutes north of Columbus, Westerville, Ohio. Kendel came to BG to pursue physical therapy and in a series of changed majors ended up in the graphic design program. He enjoys creating anything by hand (emphasis on ANYTHING). His affinity for crafting things in this way makes his design work stand out from others. Kendel’s design influences range from David Carson and Aaron Draplin to Herbert Bayer and Milton Glaser. His dream is to one day be able to work within the music industry whether it’s for a record label or a music/arts and culture magazine – because that’s rad.

After graduating in May 2018 with his BFA in graphic design, Kendel will be staying in Toledo. He hopes to find a fit in a local design firm/position creating amazing work and serving on his local AIGA chapter board. He is an avid drinker of La Croix and swears by its powers, he enjoys shooting film, collecting/listening to vinyl records, and playing guitar.
